Gather the Cheerleaders

Nobody can deny the need for positive people. We can read it everywhere on the triple W; we see it on the feeds; and yes, we hear about it. Surrounding yourself with people who believe in you is empowering and motivating. It lessens the burden of hauling your entire crate and luggage. We need people who help make us feel important and special; people who enhance our lives with their presence or by them being with us.

It becomes more important as we proceed to our journey. It’s a very tricky moment when you are feeling the blues. Doubts start flooding your thoughts. You get convinced by the doubt easily and small criticisms are amplified into such greater degree you can even tackle.  We need more believers to surround us. And we need believers who can speak of their support positively. It is this tone that would lift us; that would keep us moving. These are the voices and people who will be the “wind beneath your wings”.  Go ahead gather your cheerleaders.

When I decided I wanted to quiet and drown the voices around me I decided to shun from many people and carefully hand-picked those who I know will motivate me and help me keep believing in myself. I messaged them about what I was going through and how much I wanted them to be a voice beneath me to remind me when I start to doubt. And because these are cheerleaders, they almost instantly said yes with a cheer of positive note reminding me of what good I have and are able to accomplish.

cheerleaders, believers, motivators, positivity
Cheerleaders are our circle of friends/family who constantly and quickly recognizes areas we excel while many are looking for where we aren’t able to deliver. They are the people who appreciate the character we exude as we maneuver ourselves through our self-doubts. They aren’t necessarily fans. They don’t always agree with us. They may bluntly correct our wrong thinking but will be quick to acknowledge the effort we showed to express those thoughts and own them. They feed our soul and so, slowly, we begin to see the good in ourselves again.

Luckily, I’ve chosen well. My cheerleaders are amongst the best. The moment I tapped on their shoulders; they grabbed their pompoms and went to position…just as cued. I’m blessed to have these people. And save for about a couple who said they’d stick around but could not be found; I have perfect attendance. They aren’t always readily available. You can’t expect them to open their door 24/7; but, they respond as soon as they can with some extra boost you didn’t really ask for. Once in a while, out of the blue, they’d cheer you by asking you to do things they know you’re good at. Sometimes, they’ll just drop to send some cheer to remind you that you are always in their thoughts.  After all, many can lift weights…but only cheerleaders can lift people.
